Job summary

SILA Linguists is seeking freelance Pahari-Pothwari interpreters for healthcare, social care, legal and family assignments in the UK. Translation into Urdu is also welcome.

The role offers remote work by video or telephone, with on-site bookings available, and opportunities for professional development. As a SILA linguist, you will handle interpreting and transcription across healthcare, police and court settings, with compliance to confidentiality and GDPR.

Qualifications

• Excellent spoken and written Pahari-Pothwari and English.
• DPSI or DPI qualification or equivalent is an advantage.
• Willingness to complete a DBS check.
• Right to work in the UK for on-site assignments.
• Reliable internet, headset, and quiet workspace for remote work.

Responsibilities

• Interpret in Pahari-Pothwari for clients not comfortable in Urdu.
• Provide sight translation of Urdu or English into Pahari when requested.
• Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times.
• Build glossaries for the sectors you work in.
• Deliver written translations on or before deadlines.
• Work remotely by video or telephone, or on-site as required.
• Produce transcripts and English translations of recorded Mirpuri speech.
