Job summary

Held Health in Sheffield is seeking a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist to provide embedded support across mainstream school settings and therapy sites. The role involves managing a caseload, running groups, advising staff, and delivering staff training.

Experience in autism assessments (ADOS-2) and working with SLCN in educational settings is highly valued. You will join a multidisciplinary team and contribute to early intervention, school-wide strategies, and family engagement.

Qualifications

• Qualified Speech and Language Therapist, registered with RCSLT and HCPC.
• Experience with paediatric SLCN, including DLD, autism/ADHD.
• Experience in LA/education or mainstream schools.
• Designing universal and targeted school interventions.
• ADOS or autism assessments experience.
• Driver with ability to travel to sites across Sheffield; travel expenses reimbursed.

Responsibilities

• Observe pupils in context to identify communication needs and refer as needed.
• Advise teachers and SENCOs with practical recommendations and strategies.
• Run or co-deliver targeted groups (e.g., vocabulary, language development).
• Coach and train staff in identifying SLCN and monitoring progress.
• Audit school communication environments (classroom language, visuals, routines).
• Focus on whole-school approaches and accessibility over individual therapy."
• Co-design and review interventions with school staff, aiming for functional outcomes.
• Work with parents/carers, providing strategies, resources, and workshops.
• Participate in Autism assessments (ADOS-2) as part of the pathway.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and training logs.
