Job description

Are you an enthusiastic and motivated dietitian looking to expand your knowledge in a well-respected and friendly department? Then this opportunity may be for you! We are seeking a dietitian who is eager to innovate and collaborate with our acute across-site team. This Band 6 vacancy involves working across sites and covering the paediatric wards at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in Woolwich. You will join a friendly department comprising 35 dietitians across the two sites of Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. Flexible working arrangements will be considered.

The post holder will work alongside our Band 7 paediatric Dietitian at QEH, providing a specialist paediatric dietetic service, including paediatric oncology, and covering HDU as part of the MDT. Clinical responsibilities include:

  1. Working on the 4-bedded inpatient paediatric oncology shared care unit and supporting the oncology MDT.
  2. Working on the children's ward, including support for the new 4-bedded HDU as necessary.
  3. Holding biweekly outpatient clinics, both face-to-face and virtual group sessions.

Lewisham and Greenwich are vibrant, multicultural areas in South East London with excellent transport links.

Staff training and development are priorities for the Trust, and you will receive support from the paediatric dietetic team to establish and develop your role. Our staff are our greatest asset. When we feel supported and happy at work, this positivity benefits our patients. Engaged employees perform at their best, and our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) initiatives foster a culture of engagement. We have four staff networks, a corporate EDI team, and various programmes and events aimed at:

  • Improving representation at senior levels of staff with disabilities, from Black, Asian, and ethnic minority backgrounds, those identifying as LGBTQ+, and women, through better recruitment and leadership development.
  • Widening access (anchor institution) and employability.
  • Enhancing the experience of staff with disabilities.
  • Improving EDI literacy and confidence among trust staff through training and development.
  • Making equality and diversity mainstream.
