The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse at Beebe Healthcare is a clinically competent nurse delivering perioperative and anesthesia recovery care. The role emphasizes vigilant monitoring, pain management, airway support, and patient education in collaboration with anesthesia and surgical teams.

Qualifications include recent PACU or critical care experience, nursing licensure, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Must have current hospital experience (within past 5 years) or be a new graduate (within last 2 years).
• Prefer minimum of 1 year recent PACU or Critical Care experience.
• Must complete Point of Care Testing training as part of Department Orientation.
• Knowledge of nursing process and its application—assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation.
• Emergency Department and/or Critical Care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely identifies, labels, prepares, dispenses, and administers medications per policies.
• Inserts, maintains, and monitors IV lines.
• Uses the nursing process in perioperative and post-anesthesia care to plan and evaluate care.
• Presents airway assessments, oxygen therapy, ventilator support, and extubation assistance.
• Manages invasive hemodynamic monitoring, arterial lines, and central venous monitoring.
• Assesses and manages pain using established protocols and documents response.
