Job summary

Sharpak Aylesham is seeking a Full-time Contract Associate to support the packing desk, coordinating between Production and Despatch. This night shift role involves stacking pallets, quality checks, pallet labelling, PPT operation and safety compliance in a high-volume packaging environment.

Responsibilities include ensuring safe, efficient packing, maintaining pallet availability, and adhering to procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience in high-volume manufacturing or FMCG environments is advantageous.
• Team player with flexible approach and good collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Stack pallets with boxes from the packing belt and ensure pallets are consistent and safely stacked.
• Check box quality on full pallets and wrap correctly for safe transport.
• Label pallets accurately and double-check others’ work.
• Operate Powered Pallet Truck (PPT), hand pallet truck and hand scanners.
• Report any metal detection or box damage and complete near-miss forms if observed.
• Maintain a steady supply of pallets to the Packing Desk area.
• Follow company procedures to support efficient Packing Desk operations.
• Keep the Packing Desk area clean and safe, and perform other duties as needed.

Sharpak Aylesham is a manufacturer of thermoformed plastic packaging for use in the Fresh Produce and Food Service divisions. Established in 1968, the site has significantly grown in recent years and aims to be the first choice for rigid plastic packaging solutions through our reliability, efficiency, and innovation as a manufacturer of sustainable packaging on a local and global platform.

Role Purpose

As part of the Packing Desk team, the aim of the role is to support a smooth, efficient and high quality service as the ‘link’ between the Production and Despatch departments. The role holder is required to undertake a range of general warehousing duties and follow company procedures, working to a high standard of health and safety, to ensure the product is sent to customers in a professional and safe way.

Fixed Term Contract August 2026 to End of October 2026

Shifts Available

10pm- 6am (£12.71 per hour + enhanced shift allowance for nights)

Key Responsibilities

Stack pallets with boxes from the packing belt, ensuring that the products are consistent on each pallet, and stacked safely;

Check box quality on full pallets, and wrap correctly to ensure safe transportation through the warehouse and to the customer;

Responsible for checking and adhering the correct pallet labels to the appropriate pallet and double-checking the work of others;

Safe operation of Powered Pallet Truck (PPT), hand pallet truck, hand scanners, and other such equipment as necessary to the role;

Awareness of metal detection system malfunctions, including completion of near-miss forms if metal detection or box damage is observed;

Provide an adequate supply of new pallets in the Packing Desk area to ensure a smooth and continuous service;

Follow company policy and procedures at all times to support the effective running of the Packing Desk;

Responsible for providing a safe working environment by keeping the Packing Desk area clean and tidy;

Undertake such other duties that are deemed reasonable and commensurate with the role according to business needs.

Experience / Skills

Experience of working in a similar role within a high-volume manufacturing, FMCG or fresh produce environment would be advantageous

Team worker with a flexible approach to the role and others
