Job summary

Sharpak Aylesham is seeking a reliable warehouse operative to join the Packing Desk team. The role involves supporting production and despatch, carrying out general warehousing duties, and ensuring high standards of health and safety to deliver products to customers safely. Contract: Permanent.

Shifts are 6am-2pm or 2pm-10pm on a rotating basis, with a rate of £12.71 per hour plus enhanced shift allowance. Experience in a similar role in a fast-paced facility is advantageous and you should be a

• Experience in a similar role within a high-volume manufacturing, FMCG or fresh produce environment would be advantageous.
• Team player with a flexible approach to the role and others.
• A hands-on approach to the role with a keen eye for detail.
• Positive working attitude when working alone or within a team.

Responsibilities

• Stack pallets with boxes from the packing belt, ensuring that the products are consistent on each pallet, and stacked safely.
• Check box quality on full pallets, and wrap correctly to ensure safe transportation through the warehouse and to the customer.
• Responsible for checking and adhering the correct pallet labels to the appropriate pallet and double-checking the work of others.
• Safe operation of Powered Pallet Truck (PPT), hand pallet truck, hand scanners, and other such equipment as necessary to the role.
• Awareness of metal detection system malfunctions, including completion of near-miss forms if metal detection or box damage is observed.
• Provide an adequate supply of new pallets in the Packing Desk area to ensure a smooth and continuous service.
• Follow company policy and procedures at all times to support the effective running of the Packing Desk.
• Responsible for providing a safe working environment by keeping the Packing Desk area clean and tidy.
• Undertake such other duties that are deemed reasonable and commensurate with the role according to business needs.

Role Purpose

As part of the Packing Desk team, the aim of the role is to support a smooth, efficient and high quality service as the ‘link’ between the Production and Despatch departments. The role holder is required to undertake a range of general warehousing duties and follow company procedures, working to a high standard of health and safety, to ensure the product is sent to customers in a professional and safe way.
