Job summary

HARIBO Pontefract is seeking a Packing Engineer to join our alternating Engineering team. You will be responsible for mechanical installation and maintenance of packing line machinery to ensure smooth operations.

The role reports to a Shift Supervisor in a supportive team and offers a permanent contract with a 40-hour week on an alternating shift pattern, including early and late shifts.

Qualifications

• Teamwork and the ability to work well under pressure.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• IT literacy with Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare machines to operate at optimum efficiency.
• Attend machine breakdowns and carry out maintenance incl. preventive tasks.
• Bench fitting and installation of new machinery.
• Follow permit to work procedures, job recording, health and safety systems.
• Maintain machinery and ensure operations meet food industry standards.
• Carry out project and commissioning work.

Role: Packing Engineer

Location: HARIBO Pontefract

Working hours: 40 (Monday – Friday on an alternating shift patten)

Salary: £48,855.56 (inclusive of shift premium)

Position type: Permanent

We are on the hunt for a Packing Engineer to come and join our alternating Engineering team based out of our Pontefract site.

Within this role you will report into one of our Shift Supervisors and will work as part of our fantastic wider Engineering team. To enable HARIBO sugary success, within this role you will play a critical part in ensuring the smooth running of our operations via the mechanical installation and maintenance of all machinery and services required within the Packing department.

Working hours:

This role runs in line with our alternating shift pattern (40 hours per week):

Week 1: 06:00 – 14:00

Week 2: 14:00 – 22:00

• Preparing machines to operate at optimum efficiency
• Attending machine breakdowns and carrying out maintenance as required; including preventative maintenance
• Carrying out bench fitting and installation of new machinery
• Following set procedures for permit to work, job recording, firm alarm muting, health and safety and hygiene set systems of work
• Maintaining all machinery and ensuring all activities are carrying out in line with the standards expected in the food industry
• Carrying out project and commissioning work

• A fully completed Mechanical Apprenticeship
• The ability to make decisions effectively under pressure
• The ability to thrive as part of a team as well as whilst working independently
• A good level of both verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to effectively use IT packages to a good standard including Word and Excel
