We are looking for a Packaging Development Manager to join our Packaging team at pladis! The role will support and be based out of our Wigston site; however, there is flexibility for the position to be based in High Wycombe with regular travel to Wigston.

As a key member of the factory technical team, the Packaging Development Manager is crucial in developing and delivering the category growth plan for pladis UK & Europe, with a specific focus on incremental growth through packaging, including asset-driven innovation and new technology.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering the packaging programme by collaborating with marketing, product development, and operations to introduce new or improved packaging and drive continuous cost improvements.
• Owning packaging specifications and implementation processes.
• Supporting sites to ensure delivery of solutions and collaborating with other packaging team members to create new packaging solutions.
• Providing project management documentation, including timelines and risk assessments.
• Supporting technical aspects of procurement and linking to strategic material teams.
• Building packaging specifications aligned with project requirements, ensuring legislative and regulatory compliance, and functional performance.
• Creating and delivering packaging documentation such as cutter guides, pallet patterns, component drawings, standards, and test protocols.
• Ensuring quality testing for new packaging formats and conducting packaging trials at various sites.

Project management duties include:

• Gathering all relevant project documentation.
• Communicating key project information to relevant functions and ensuring process adherence.

Bring your experience:

• HND or higher qualification in Packaging, Engineering, Design, or equivalent.
• Experience in an FMCG environment with exposure to various packaging materials and machinery.
• Understanding of business terminology, product-to-market processes, and technical systems like SAP and Microsoft Office.
• Interest in a career in packaging development within FMCG.
• Experience in planning and reviewing factory trials.
• Knowledge of Basic Food Hygiene.

Interview process:

• First stage: competency-based interview focusing on company values and your experience.
• Second stage: technical interview or case study/presentation.
