Job summary

Vertex Inc. is seeking an Executive Director of Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics in Oxford to lead the DMPK team and align Oxford activities with Vertex’s Global DMPK strategy.

The role combines scientific leadership with operations, coordinating across disciplines to advance discovery and development of transformational therapies. Qualifications

• Proven experience leading a DMPK team in a biotech/pharma setting.
• Strong track record in strategy, planning and scientific direction for discovery and development.
• Excellent communication and cross-site collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop a strategy and vision for the Oxford DMPK team aligned with Global DMPK and Vertex R&D goals.
• Lead and coordinate DMPK science strategies addressing ADME challenges in programs.
• Foster partnerships with Medicinal Chemistry, Biology, Preclinical Safety, Clinical Pharmacology and CMC to advance Vertex programs.
• Represent DMPK on discovery and development teams and with Vertex governance bodies.
• Implement innovative technologies to enhance scientific impact and efficiency.
• Provide scientific and managerial leadership for prioritising deliverables and resourcing.
• Ensure completion of DMPK regulatory documents and reports (INDs, IBs, etc.).
• Hire, develop and retain key talent; manage staffing, budgets and planning.
• Develop sourcing strategies and coordinate across sites to meet project needs.
