We’re seeking staff who are motivated to tackle the problemof homelessness, with the skills to create a welcomingenvironment for people with complex needs.
The Glasgow Overnight Welcome Centre anticipates receivinghundreds of guests seeking refuge and a warm, safe placeto sleep. As a Team Leader, you will play a key role inensuring that environment is safe, welcoming and well led.
About the role
The Team Leader works under the direction of the WinterProject Manager and is responsible for helping deliver theOvernight Welcome Centre.
You will lead a small team of staff and volunteers, allocatetasks, support team members and have overall responsibilityfor guests on site and for decision-making during your shift.
Night shifts focus on creating a warm, safe and welcoming environment for people who are at risk of rough sleeping.
The post requires confidence in working with men and womenwith complex needs, the ability to work effectively as partof a team, and a genuine passion for people experiencinghomelessness.
Working pattern
Overnight Team Leader shifts run from 19:30 to 07:30, operating on a five days on, five days off rotation.
The fixed-term contract runs from 1 December 2026 until 31 March 2027,with paid accrued annual leave on a pro-rata basis.
Successful candidates must also be available for trainingfrom 16–20 November 2026. Training willinclude the homelessness system, personal safety, first aid,suicide prevention and overdose prevention.
What you'll bring
You will need to be able to interact positively with peoplefrom a wide range of backgrounds, including people whoselives may currently be challenging or chaotic.
The role requires the ability to lead a team, make decisionsin difficult circumstances, communicate well and help diffusechallenging situations.
Previous experience in health, social care, community orrehabilitation work is desirable, as is experience of leadingstaff or volunteers in a comparable setting.
Knowledge of homelessness and issues relating to drug andalcohol misuse is also desirable.
