Job summary

Glasgow City Mission is recruiting an Assistant Project Worker to support the Glasgow Overnight Welcome Centre during the winter period. The role runs 16:30–21:30, Monday to Friday, on a fixed-term basis from 1 December 2026 to 31 March 2027, in Glasgow.

You will help create a welcoming environment for guests at risk of rough sleeping, with sensitivity to people experiencing homelessness and complex needs, and assist with practical welfare support as part of a compassionate team.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting people experiencing homelessness is desirable.
• Ability to engage with individuals with complex needs in a compassionate manner.
• Welcoming and non-judgemental attitude with good listening skills.

Responsibilities

• Support guests at the Overnight Welcome Centre during the shift.
• Help create a safe, warm environment and assist with basic welfare needs.

We’re seeking staff who are motivated to tackle the problem of homelessness, with the skills to create a welcoming environment for people with complex needs.

The Glasgow Overnight Welcome Centre anticipates receiving hundreds of guests seeking refuge and a warm, safe place to sleep.

We are recruiting for an Assistant Project Worker (£14.28 p/h).

The Assistant Project Worker position is a fixed term post from a proposed opening on 1 December 2026 to 31 March 2027, working 16:30 – 21:30, working Monday - Friday.
