Job summary

BCHA is seeking a Night Intensive Housing Officer in Plymouth to provide a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for people experiencing homelessness. You will work overnight as the first point of contact, offering calm, empathetic support and practical help to customers, while promoting dignity and independence.

You will record notes, collaborate with local services, and signpost where appropriate, helping individuals on their journey to stability and wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Create a safe and inclusive environment for customers.
  • Support customers with practical needs while encouraging self-management and independence.
  • De-escalate situations with empathy and professionalism, promoting safety for all.
  • Record accurate and timely notes to support joined-up working with the wider support team.
  • Work collaboratively with local services, signposting and referring where appropriate.
  • Respond with compassion to those in emotional distress or crisis.
  • Ensure confidentiality, uphold professional boundaries, and champion dignity at all times.
  • Promote community engagement, well-being activities, and life skills that support long-term progress.
