Job summary

BCHA is seeking a Night Intensive Housing Officer to provide safe, supportive care for people experiencing homelessness during the night shift. You will work within our Homelessness service to help customers feel secure, heard and empowered.

The role focuses on de-escalation, practical support, notes, and collaboration with local services to promote independence and long-term progress, while maintaining confidentiality and dignity at all times.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact overnight, offering a calm, reassuring presence.
• Create a safe and inclusive environment for customers.
• Support customers with practical needs while promoting independence.
• De-escalate situations with empathy and professionalism.
• Record accurate and timely notes to support joined-up working.
• Collaborate with local services, signposting and referrals.
• Respond with compassion to those in emotional distress or crisis.
• Uphold confidentiality and professional boundaries while protecting dignity.
• Promote community engagement and life-skills to support long-term progress.
