Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Out of Hours Overnight Service as a Band 5 Community Staff Nurse. The post supports the District Nursing Service, delivering person-centred care in community settings and working autonomously within a multidisciplinary team.

The role includes assessing and managing care, clinical leadership, and supervision of junior staff, with a 21:30–07:00 night pattern at Mile End Centre, Paisley.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with Part 1 NMC Registration (or 2nd Level Registration with General Nursing Experience)
• Significant post-registration nursing experience
• Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)
• Evidence of NMC Revalidation
• Knowledge of community nursing practice and patient-centred care
• Understanding of health promotion, rehabilitation and maintaining independent living
• IT skills including word processing, email and internet use
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and make autonomous decisions
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care programmes under the District Nurse.
• Provide skilled nursing interventions in community settings.
• Support delegated caseload management.
• Contribute to 24-hour nursing service delivery.
• Undertake risk assessments and maintain clinical records.
• Support health promotion and rehabilitation.
• Participate in quality improvement, audits and research.
• Provide clinical leadership and supervise junior staff and students.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
