ARCA Consulting is recruiting for an Overhead Linesman (LE1) to join a UK-wide team on transmission and distribution projects. The role supports safe delivery of OHL construction, mentoring LE2 Operatives and Trainees, and ensuring adherence to RAMS, drawings and HSEQ.

The position offers a permanent, full-time contract with travel across the UK, competitive salary, overtime, bonus and travel allowances. Location can be based anywhere in the UK with overnight stays as needed.

Qualifications

• Significant LE1 experience in transmission and distribution.
• Proven 132kV/400kV OHL project exposure.
• Knowledge of RAMS and safe systems of work.

Responsibilities

• Overhead line construction including foundations, tower erection and conductor stringing.
• Installation of conductors, earth wires and insulators and fittings.
• Maintenance, refurbishment and dismantling of OHL assets.
• Work to RAMS, drawings, specifications and HSEQ requirements.
• Support and mentor LE2 Operatives and Trainees.
• Maintain high standards of safety, quality and productivity.

Shift Pattern: 10-hour shifts | Weekend on / Weekend off
Travel: Site-based with regular UK travel and overnight stays

ARCA Consulting is recruiting on behalf of a leading UK energy and infrastructure business for an experienced Overhead Linesman (LE1) to join its growing transmission and distribution team.

Our client delivers specialist engineering and operational services across the UK energy and utilities sector, including high-voltage networks, renewables and grid connection projects.

The Role

As an Overhead Linesman (LE1) you will support the safe and efficient delivery of overhead line construction projects, working alongside the OHL Foreman and providing technical guidance to LE2 Operatives and Trainees.

Key responsibilities include:

• Overhead line construction, including foundations, tower erection and conductor stringing.


• Installation of conductors, earth wires, insulators, fittings and associated equipment.


• Maintenance, refurbishment and dismantling of existing OHL assets.


• Working to RAMS, drawings, specifications and HSEQ requirements.


• Supporting and mentoring LE2 Operatives and Trainees.


• Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and productivity.


• Identifying and reporting operational, safety and programme issues.

About You

We’re looking for an experienced OHL professional with:

• Significant LE1 experience within transmission and distribution.


• Proven experience on 132kV400kV OHL projects.


• Strong knowledge of RAMS, working at height and safe systems of work.


• Relevant National Grid competencies.


• Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.


• Strong communication and leadership skills.


• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable: National Grid Competent Person Authorisations, First Aid, Rescue from Height, CPCS, EUSR/CSCS and lifting or rigging experience.
