Job summary

ARCA Consulting is recruiting an experienced Overhead Linesman (LE1) to join its transmission and distribution team. The role is site-based across Scotland with travel across the UK for UK-wide projects, supported by a competitive package and site allowances.

You will work with the OHL Foreman, provide guidance to LE2 Operatives and Trainees, and help deliver overhead line construction and maintenance to 132kV-400kV networks, while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Significant LE1 experience within transmission and distribution.
• Proven experience on 132kV-400kV OHL projects.
• Ability to read construction drawings and RAMS.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Support safe and efficient delivery of overhead line construction projects.
• Collaborate with OHL Foreman and mentor LE2 Operatives and Trainees.
• Install conductors, earth wires, insulators and fittings.
• Maintain safety, quality and productivity to RAMS and specifications.
• Identify and report operational, safety and programme issues.
• Provide technical guidance to LE2 Operatives and Trainees.

Location: Scotland site-based, candidates can be based anywhere in the UK with travel flexibility.

UK Wide Projects

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience + benefits + site allowances + bonuses.

Shift Pattern: 10-hour shifts | Weekend on / Weekend off

Travel: Site-based with regular UK travel and overnight stays

ARCA Consulting is recruiting on behalf of a leading UK energy and infrastructure business for an experienced Overhead Linesman (LE1) to join its growing transmission and distribution team.

Our client delivers specialist engineering and operational services across the UK energy and utilities sector, including high-voltage networks, renewables and grid connection projects.

The Role

As an Overhead Linesman (LE1) you will support the safe and efficient delivery of overhead line construction projects, working alongside the OHL Foreman and providing technical guidance to LE2 Operatives and Trainees.

• Overhead line construction, including foundations, tower erection and conductor stringing.
• Installation of conductors, earth wires, insulators, fittings and associated equipment.
• Maintenance, refurbishment and dismantling of existing OHL assets.
• Working to RAMS, drawings, specifications and HSEQ requirements.
• Supporting and mentoring LE2 Operatives and Trainees.
• Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and productivity.
• Identifying and reporting operational, safety and programme issues.

About You

We're looking for an experienced OHL professional with:

• Significant LE1 experience within transmission and distribution.
• Proven experience on 132kV-400kV OHL projects.
• Strong knowledge of RAMS, working at height and safe systems of work.
• Relevant National Grid competencies.
• Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable: National Grid Competent Person Authorisations, First Aid, Rescue from Height, CPCS, EUSR/CSCS and lifting or rigging experience.
