Job summary

Barrett Steel is seeking an experienced Electric Overhead Crane Engineer to cover multiple sites across Northampton, Burton, Dartford and Gloucester. You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose faults, and ensure safe crane operations while supporting continuous improvement across the asset care cranes division.

The role requires electrical/mechanical discipline, LEEA diploma (desirable), and a UK driving licence.

Qualifications

Be Safety focused and adhere to current standards in lifting industry.
Qualified in Electrical/Mechanical discipline; LEEA diploma preferred.
Strong electrical knowledge of overhead cranes.
Experience with Konecranes, ABUS and Demag cranes.
Able to work at heights; IOSH trained preferred.
Full UK driving licence required.
IPAF 3a and 3b powered access licence

Responsibilities

Carry out preventative maintenance of the Groups’ Electric Overhead Travelling Cranes.
Maintain the cranes to prolong equipment life under our remit.
Reduce avoidable costs by achieving first-time fix rate.
Advise the group/site on crane-related and lifting operation matters.
Reduce crane breakdowns by preventative maintenance on components.
Carry out fault diagnosis and root cause analysis on components after failure.
Complete Risk Assessments/Method Statements and Point of Work Risk Assessments.
Collate crane performance data and send monthly reports to manager for all sites.
Understand and deploy continuous improvement and problem-solving techniques to optimise crane availability, reliability, and performance.
