Job summary

Citizens Advice Lewisham is seeking an Outreach Generalist Adviser to provide high-quality generalist advice in community settings. The role includes a four-day week (35 hours) with one day remote and three days on outreach sites across Lewisham.

We offer a salary of £28,000 to £32,000 pro rata, depending on experience, with development and training built in and a clear pathway to a specialist debt adviser role.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience providing generalist advice across a range of topics and managing an advice caseload.
• Experience giving debt and benefits advice and understanding their interaction with clients' circumstances.
• Ability to interview clients using sensitive listening and questioning skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including negotiating clearly.
• Ability to research, analyse and present complex information in writing and verbally.
• Experience with case management and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Provide generalist advice in outreach settings on benefits, debt and welfare issues.
• Interview clients to identify issues and plan next steps.
• Research and explain options, rights and implications using AdviserNet.
• Help clients make informed decisions with practical action plans and signposting.
• Draft letters, make calls and negotiate with third parties when appropriate.
• Maintain accurate case records for continuity and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with procedures, data protection and quality standards.
• Promote equality, inclusion and accessibility in service delivery.
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve services.
