A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the small, patient-focused team at the Outpatients Department, Royal Glamorgan Hospital, and Dewi Sant Hospital, with the requirement to work in Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda if needed.
Main Outpatients facilitates a wide range of consultant-led, nurse-led clinics, and visiting specialties.
The successful candidate must have an interest in outpatient nursing, work well independently and as part of a team, embrace the core values of the health board, and be willing to learn and improve services for patients.
Welsh language skills are desirable (Level 3 or above in Speaking/Listening). This means being able to hold simple conversations with patients; fluency or writing long reports in Welsh is not required. For more information, see the 'Croeso Candidate!' booklet attached.
The skills of phlebotomy, ECG recording, and wound care are essential for this role. The successful applicant will facilitate clinics independently, carry out clinical procedures such as Doppler, supervise junior staff, and support student nurses on placement.
They will also manage the outpatient area in the absence of the department manager.
Staff are required to undertake mandatory training and e-learning, actively participate in PADR, and are supported in achieving revalidation.
The successful candidate is encouraged to participate in departmental learning and development initiatives.
Main Outpatients operates Monday to Friday. Flexibility over the 5-day working week is important to meet service needs.
