Job Description:

Are you passionate about supporting and improving health and wellbeing of whānau and their tamariki? Often our reassuring voice on the other end of the line is the key to supporting whānau to parent with confidence and building knowledge.

If you’re a registered nurse looking for something a little different, we have a telehealth opportunity for you. We’re currently recruiting for an intake of permanent 0.8 FTE (4 days per week) positions with the ability to pick up extra shifts.

Our changing world has meant that the majority of our team are working from home, so you can be based anywhere in New Zealand. We have call centres in Auckland and Wellington and as long as you have fast-fibre and a private space, we can provide the training you need to join our team.

As part of our PlunketLine team, you’ll provide incoming callers with clinical advice and support to families and whānau in New Zealand with children under five, underpinned by Whānau Āwhina values and pro equity commitment, we deliver a quality service experience 24/7.

Our nurses provide support regarding sleeping, eating and provide guidance to whānau whenever they need, which means that you spend your work day reassuring and educating parents and caregivers to deliver the best care possible to their pēpi and tamariki. Our nurses provide assessment, support, guidance to Whanau wherever they need it on all parts of their parenting journey including well and unwell child, breast feeding and nutrition, sleep and behaviour support.

You never really know what the next call will be, this statement should fill you with a sense of excitement! We’re looking for nurses who are able to think on their feet, listen to understand, communicate with ease and who are able to build positive relationships with ease. All this without seeing your caller.

Of course, your resilience and emotional intelligence will be what helps you to truly excel. At times, our callers can be reaching out in their time of need, so you will be able to put people at ease, provide reassurance and communicate clinical information to a variety of audiences.

Practice Nurses, Neonatal, Accident and Emergency, Community or Public Health nursing backgrounds tend to thrive in our environment, but if you have a passion for children and hold a current NZ Nursing Council Annual Practicing Certificate with some work experience, we’d love to hear from you.

Advancing our pro-equity journey requires the participation and contribution of all our Plunket People, to support this, all of our staff participate in “be a better treaty partner” training “. Prior understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its applications as well as equity issues related to health (in particular for whānau Māori) would be advantageous in our organisation.

If you’re seeking to work for an organisation that values improving society, join us at Whānau Āwhina Plunket. In line with our values, we believe in caring for our people, to support your wellbeing and ongoing professional growth, we are committed to our people having the skills, development and support to do their jobs and we provide access to learning and professional development and programmes to build your cultural competence so you can contribute to our goals most effectively.
