Rate of Pay:15.00 per hour

Role Overview

A friendly and reliable Personal Assistant is required to support a gentleman who uses a wheelchair and lives in Aberystwyth. He has not been able to go out independently for a long time and would like support to rebuild his confidence, enjoy some fresh air and reconnect with his local community.

Purpose of the Role

To provide respectful, person-centred support that enables the gentleman to leave his home safely and take part in activities of his choice. Initial outings may include a wheelchair-accessible trip along the seafront and visiting a local café. The Personal Assistant should work at his pace, encourage independence and help make each outing relaxed and enjoyable.

Main Duties

• Provide companionship and reassurance before and during outings.
• Support the gentleman to plan outings based on his preferences, mobility needs and the weather.
• Accompany him to accessible local places, such as the seafront or a café.
• Assist with safe wheelchair access and mobility while following any agreed guidance.
• Allow enough time and offer encouragement without rushing or taking over.
• Promote choice, dignity, privacy and independence at all times.
• Be alert to accessibility, comfort and safety during each outing.
• Communicate clearly and report any concerns through the agreed Direct Payments arrangements.
