Job summary

Pertemps Newcastle are recruiting a Leaking Technician to cover the Berwick-upon-Tweed water network. You will identify and locate leaks, fit monitoring devices and carry out leakage surveys while working outdoors in all weathers.

This full-time, temporary role includes full training and practical, hands-on work with support within a safety framework. A company van and fuel card will be provided for duties.

Qualifications

• Full UK manual driving licence.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Confidence using mobile technology, including smartphones and tablets.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Comfort working around manholes and performing physical tasks.
• Ability to walk long distances and work outdoors for extended periods.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required.
• Previous leakage detection, utilities, engineering or water industry experience is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Identify and locate leaks on water mains and service pipes.
• Fit monitoring and leak detection devices to manholes.
• Use sounding, correlating and noise logging techniques.
• Carry out planned leakage surveys.
• Respond to reactive and urgent leak detection requirements.
• Investigate potential leaks and provide accurate information for repairs.
• Use monitoring equipment and mobile technology to identify potential leakage.
• Work independently across the water network.
• Speak with customers and explain findings and solutions.
• Work to set productivity and accuracy targets.
