Job summary

Hills Group in Wiltshire is seeking a Drivers Mate to join our busy waste collections team in Lower Compton, Calne. This is a full-time, permanent role working alongside an LGV Driver to collect trade waste and mixed recycling across Wiltshire and surrounding areas.

You’ll help with route planning, customer service, and ensure safe, efficient operations. The ideal candidate will be physically active, comfortable working outdoors in all weather, and possess strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Essential: strong communication and interpersonal skills with customers and colleagues.
• Positive, collaborative approach and ability to work as part of a team.
• Good geographical awareness and ability to read maps for route planning.

Responsibilities

• Support collection of trade waste and mixed recycling, including safe handling of wheelie bins.
• Complete and maintain accurate collection and transaction records.
• Assist with depot and yard duties to maintain smooth operations.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety and professionalism.
