Job summary

South Lanarkshire Council in Blantyre is seeking Grounds Operatives (HGV Driver) to join the Grounds Services team at Forrest Street Depot. You will work 37 hours per week, 4 days on and 4 days off (6:30am–6:00pm), with an hourly rate of £15.54–£15.66.

The role covers a wide range of grounds maintenance duties across the council, including grass cutting, shrub bed and hedge work, and cemetery maintenance, with a focus on safety and customer service.

Qualifications

• Full UK HGV driving licence and previous grounds/streetscape maintenance experience.
• Experience operating Johnston road sweepers or similar equipment.
• Good understanding of vehicle checks and maintenance procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to safety, efficiency and high-quality service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Provide a reliable grounds maintenance service across South Lanarkshire.
• Carry out tasks such as grass cutting, hedge cutting and shrub bed maintenance as part of a team.
• Operate and assist in maintaining grounds machinery and equipment.
• Deliver excellent customer service to council departments and the public.
