Job summary

South Lanarkshire Council is seeking a Grounds Operative (HGV Driver) based at Forrest Street Depot, Blantyre. The role involves essential grounds maintenance duties across the council’s sites, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, and soft landscaping, with a strong emphasis on safety and efficiency.

Applicants must hold a full UK HGV driving licence and have prior grounds/streetscape maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• Full UK HGV driving licence and grounds maintenance experience.
• Experience operating Johnston road sweepers or similar equipment.
• Good understanding of vehicle checks and maintenance procedures; safety-conscious.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grounds across South Lanarkshire, including grass cutting, shrub bed maintenance and hedge trimming.
• Operate Johnston road sweepers or similar equipment as part of the grounds team.
• Work patterns include 4 days on and 4 days off, 6:30am–6:00pm, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
