Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is seeking a passionate Forest School Teacher/Practitioner for an Alternative Provision in Burnley. You will deliver outdoor, therapeutic sessions, supporting vulnerable learners with SEMH, ASC, ADHD, and anxiety in a dedicated woodland setting.

The role offers a temp-to-perm pathway and a competitive daily rate, with standard school hours and a strong pastoral support team to back you.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Forest School Leader certification is highly advantageous, alongside QTS/QTLS or solid background as Unqualified Teacher, Outdoor Learning Instructor, or Specialist HLTA.
• Experience working with vulnerable learners, SEMH, PRU, or SEND environments.
• Competent with tool use, dynamic outdoor risk assessments, and outdoor first aid.
• Adaptable, calm under pressure, empathetic, and enthusiastic about teaching outdoors year‑round in Lancashire weather.
• Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to process one immediately) and verifiable employment references.

Responsibilities

• Plan, risk‑assess, and deliver practical, therapeutic Forest School sessions for primary and secondary AP cohorts.
• Lead bushcraft, tool work, shelter building, campfire cooking, nature craft, and conservation tasks.
• Use outdoor activities to embed functional skills, sensory regulation, and emotional literacy.
• Manage small group dynamics (4–6 pupils) with Learning Support Assistants.
• Apply positive behaviour support and trauma‑informed approaches; oversee site safety and ecological management.
