Job summary

Southwark Council is seeking an experienced Events professional to support the planning, procurement and delivery of large-scale outdoor events across the borough. You will work with partners, ensure compliance with safety and licensing requirements, and guide event organisers to successful delivery.

You will coordinate community engagement, manage budgets and supplier contracts, and contribute to the continued growth and innovation of the events programme.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering large-scale outdoor or commercial events.
• Knowledge of licensing, health & safety, and working with partners such as Police, LAS, TfL.
• Strong stakeholder management and client relations.
• Solutions-focused, staying calm under pressure.
• Flexible and collaborative team player.
• Commercial awareness with budgeting and income generation.
• Interest in service improvement and event growth.

Responsibilities

• Support the procurement, planning and delivery of outdoor events across the borough, focusing on large-scale commercial events.
• Monitor compliance with Council policies, health and safety, and industry best practice; collaborate with Licensing and other services.
• Act as main contact for event organisers, contractors and partners, providing guidance and ensuring smooth delivery.
• Coordinate and manage public consultation processes for major events, ensuring community voices are heard.
• Monitor event performance, collect feedback, and support ongoing improvement of the events programme.
• Track payments, report progress against forecasts and support financial management.
