Job summary

Somerset Council is seeking a dedicated Outdoor Centre Coordinator for Kilve Court Outdoor Centre. You will help deliver high-quality programmes, support daily operations, and ensure every visitor has a welcoming, memorable stay at Kilve Court.

You will work with the Centre Manager to coordinate activities, manage bookings, promote the centre, and lead exciting outdoor adventures while safeguarding and wellbeing remain a priority.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering excellent customer service to schools, parents and visitors.
• Knowledge of health and safety, safeguarding and risk assessment in outdoor or residential settings.
• Experience planning and delivering activities, programmes or events.

Responsibilities

• Help create exceptional outdoor learning experiences for children and young people.
• Lead and coordinate programmes, activities and residential stays.
• Build strong relationships with schools, parents, group leaders and visitors.
• Deputise for the Centre Manager to ensure smooth day-to-day running.
• Champion outstanding customer service and look for ways to exceed expectations.
• Promote Kilve Court to grow bookings and opportunities for outdoor learning.
• Support safeguarding, health and safety and wellbeing for a safe, positive experience.
• Collaborate with colleagues to continually improve the service and inclusivity.

About the Role

Help shape unforgettable outdoor learning experiences at Kilve Court Outdoor Centre.

You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality programmes, supporting the day-to-day running of the centre, and ensuring every visitor enjoys a welcoming and memorable stay.

Working closely with the Centre Manager, you’ll help coordinate activities, manage bookings, promote the centre, and lead exciting outdoor adventures.

You’ll also support the smooth, safe operation of the centre, contribute to its ongoing success, and help create an inclusive environment where children, young people and visitors can thrive.

How You'll Make a Difference

• Help create exceptional outdoor learning experiences that inspire children and young people to learn, grow and thrive.
• Lead and coordinate exciting programmes, activities and residential stays that keep visitors coming back.
• Build strong relationships with schools, parents, group leaders and visitors, ensuring every guest feels welcome and supported.
• Deputise for the Centre Manager and help ensure the smooth, safe and successful day-to-day running of the centre.
• Champion outstanding customer service, always looking for ways to exceed expectations.
• Promote and develop Kilve Court, helping to grow bookings and maximise opportunities for outdoor learning.
• Support safeguarding, health and safety, and wellbeing, ensuring every child enjoys a safe and positive experience.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to continually improve the service and create an inclusive environment where everyone can succeed.

What You'll Bring

• Experience delivering excellent customer service and building positive relationships with schools, parents and visitors.
• Knowledge of health and safety, safeguarding and risk assessment in outdoor or residential settings.
• Experience planning and delivering activities, programmes or events.
• Experience supporting the day-to-day operation of a service, facility or team.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with children, young people and adults.
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage bookings, programmes and competing priorities.
• Ability to lead activities and make effective decisions in a busy environment.
• Level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience) in Outdoor Education, Sport, Leisure, Youth Work, Education or a related field.
• Relevant outdoor activity leadership qualification(s).
• Current First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain).
