Job summary

Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Orthoptist to join the team based at King’s Mill Hospital. You’ll assess, diagnose and manage ocular motility and visual development disorders in both children and adults, supporting visual development and reducing double vision.

You’ll work alongside ophthalmologists and other clinicians, contribute to treatment plans and participate in structured preceptorship for newly qualified orthoptists, with mentoring and ongoing professional

Qualifications

• Orthoptics, Ophthalmology and Neurology knowledge relevant to clinical assessment and management.
• Knowledge of hospital computer systems and clinical workflows.
• Formal orthoptic qualification (BMedSc orthoptic degree or DBO) is required or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage ocular motility and visual development disorders.
• Support children’s visual development and adults with double vision or neurological conditions.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists and healthcare professionals on clinical decisions and treatment plans.
• Provide orthoptic services at King’s Mill Hospital and travel to Ashfield Health Village and Newark Hospital for clinics.
