The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic NHS Trust (RJAH) in Oswestry invites applications for a Pre-Operative Assessment Practitioner. The role involves working within a multidisciplinary clinical team to deliver patient-focused pre-operative care and to help prevent on-the-day cancellations of surgery.

Core duties include preoperative assessment of adults awaiting orthopaedic surgery, adherence to infection control protocols, and developing patient-specific pathways.

Qualifications

• First level Registered Practitioner with Professional Body
• Degree/Diploma or equivalent in nursing/therapies or assessment
• Pre-Operative Assessment and / or Orthopaedic qualification
• Teaching, assessing qualification. or equivalent level of specialist skill
• Experience in Pre-Operative Assessment
• Demonstrable clinical experience at Band 5 or above
• Demonstrable experience in Orthopaedics and or Pre-Operative Assessment

Responsabilités

• Preoperatively assess a wide spectrum of adult patients prior to Orthopaedic surgery.
• Be responsible for ensuring all resources are used to optimum effect, ensuring all members of the multidisciplinary team comply with local protocols in infection control, manual handling, Health and Safety, patient advocacy and will expediate quality issues, relating to Service delivery.
• Anticipate where possible, needs and problems before they occur, and develop an action plan to ensure a patient specific pathway is planned prior to admission.
• Provide an expert level of technical knowledge to physically assess patients prior to surgery and anaesthetic.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high standards of patient focused care.
• Deputise for the Unit Manager in their absence.
