Job summary

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is recruiting a Band 5 Orthopaedic Plaster Technician to provide specialist plastering support in the Fracture Clinic. You will assess, apply, modify and remove casts and splints, working autonomously within defined competence and following clinical standards.

You will help maintain patient safety through skin and neurovascular assessment, patient education and escalation of concerns, while aiding clinic flow and capacity and supporting governance

Qualifications

• Formal orthopaedic/plaster technician qualification or recognised equivalent.
• Evidence of competency in plastering, casting and splinting.
• Commitment to maintaining competencies and undertaking CPD.

Responsibilities

• Provide a specialist orthopaedic technical service within Fracture Clinic, supporting assessment, application, modification and removal of casts, splints and immobilisation devices.
• Support clinic capacity by contributing plaster expertise to reduce delays and free clinical staff for patient care.
• Contribute to governance, audit, quality improvement and maintaining plaster competencies within the service.
