Job summary

South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner. The post supports delivery across two hospital sites, coordinating inpatients and multidisciplinary care for elective and trauma patients.

Patients are managed with MDT teams, striving for high-quality, patient-centred pathways and continuous improvement. The role offers development opportunities including Non-Medical Prescribing, with progression from Band 6 to Band 7 after programme completion.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional required.
• Current registration with NMC/HCPC and practising status.
• Non-medical prescribing or willingness to undertake.
• Leadership and management training desirable.
• Experience coordinating care within orthopaedics.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate delivery and development of the specialist orthopaedic service.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary, patient-centred care planning.
• Plan and deliver safe, effective care across pathways autonomously.
• Provide specialist clinical advice to patients and staff within the Trust.
• Improve clinical care standards and governance compliance.
• Lead practitioner-led clinics and support discharge planning.
• Undertake research relevant to the service needs.
