Job summary

Pearson is seeking an Oracle Engineering Manager to lead the Oracle engineering team on the TOpS programme. You will be accountable for delivery, quality and technical direction across Oracle Database, Oracle APEX apps and data pipelines, ensuring trustworthiness, security and operational stability.

This is a people leadership role with line management of engineers, collaboration with product owners, architects, QA and SMEs, and representation at senior stakeholder meetings.

Qualifications

• Experience leading engineering teams delivering data-focused projects.
• Ability to review designs and complex PL/SQL packages.
• Strong communication to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead and line-manage Oracle engineers, including recruitment and performance reviews.
• Own delivery planning with product owners: backlog, estimation, sprint planning, releases.
• Set and uphold standards for SQL, PL/SQL, and APEX development with CI/CD and testing.
• Provide technical direction on Oracle APEX architecture, security and performance.
• Oversee data pipelines design, operation, monitoring and SLAs.
• Define and embed a data quality framework with validation and reconciliation.
• Ensure data protection and governance compliance.
