Job summary

Babcock is seeking a DBA Manager at our Technology Centre site in Bristol. You will lead delivery and performance of Oracle database and middleware services that support defence operations, ensuring security, reliability and optimality across systems.

You will shape technology and people capability, guide a team of specialists, and help transition to an in-house function while delivering new digital solutions that enable national security and critical infrastructure.

Qualifications

Experience managing database and middleware environments in complex systems.
Leadership experience managing technical teams.
Familiar with Oracle technologies such as WebLogic, SOA Suite, Identity Management, and modern Oracle database platforms
Experience working with Windows and Linux server environments
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to optimise performance and reliability

Responsibilities

Leading a team to deliver high-performing Oracle database and middleware services
Developing project plans, allocating resources, and ensuring timely delivery
Driving continuous improvement through automation, optimisation, and best practice
Managing system performance, security, and availability across critical platforms
Collaborating with technical teams to deliver new applications and system improvements
