Job summary

SCC is seeking an experienced Tech Specialist - Oracle Administrator to lead and manage enterprise Oracle Database services across production and non-production environments. The role focuses on availability, security, performance, and continuous improvement within a hybrid UK-wide office network including Birmingham.

You will collaborate with Infrastructure, Application, Security and Project teams to deliver resilient Oracle solutions and drive automation and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience administering large-scale enterprise Oracle Database environments.
• Expert knowledge of Oracle Database architecture, administration and troubleshooting.
• Proven experience supporting highly available, mission-critical production systems.
• Strong expertise across Oracle high availability, disaster recovery, database security and replication technologies.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
• Experience working within ITIL-based service management environments.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and technical documentation skills.
• Ability to provide technical leadership while working collaboratively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Commitment to continuous improvement, operational excellence and customer-focused service delivery.

Responsibilities

• OWN the delivery, operation and continuous improvement of enterprise Oracle Database services across production and non-production environments.
• LEAD the technical resolution of complex Oracle Database incidents, service requests and problem investigations, ensuring effective root cause analysis and permanent resolution.
• LEAD Oracle Database lifecycle activities, including implementation, configuration, upgrades, patching, migrations, maintenance and decommissioning.
• ENSURE Oracle Database platforms consistently meet agreed service levels for availability, resilience, performance, recoverability and security.
• DESIGN, IMPLEMENT AND CONTINUOUSLY IMPROVE Oracle high availability, disaster recovery, replication and database security solutions.
• LEAD Oracle Database technical delivery for infrastructure and application initiatives.
• DRIVE automation, standardisation and operational excellence across Oracle Database services.
• DEFINE, MAINTAIN AND CONTINUOUSLY IMPROVE Oracle Database standards, operational procedures and technical documentation.
• COLLABORATE with Infrastructure, Backup, Monitoring, Application, Security and Project teams to deliver scalable, resilient and secure Oracle Database services.
