Job summary

Babcock is seeking a DBA Manager at our Technology Centre site in Bristol. You will lead delivery and performance of Oracle database and middleware services that support defence operations, ensuring security, reliability and optimality across systems.

You will shape technology and people capability, guide a team of specialists, and help transition to an in-house function while delivering new digital solutions that enable national security and critical infrastructure.

Lead critical digital systems supporting national security

The role

As a DBA Manager, you’ll lead the delivery and performance of critical Oracle database and middleware services that support defence and engineering operations. You’ll be responsible for ensuring systems are secure, reliable, and optimised, helping teams across the business deliver vital programmes with confidence.

Day-to-day, you’ll shape both technology and people capability. You’ll guide a team of specialists, support the transition to an in-house function, and play a key part in delivering new digital solutions. It’s an opportunity to grow your leadership skills while working on systems that directly enable national defence and infrastructure.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and requires on site attendance in Bristol 2-3 days per week

Essential experience of the DBA Manager

• Experience managing database and middleware environments in complex systems
• Leadership experience managing technical teams
• Familiar with Oracle technologies such as WebLogic, SOA Suite, Identity Management, and modern Oracle database platforms
• Experience working with Windows and Linux server environments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to optimise performance and reliability

Qualifications for the DBA Manager

• Relevant professional experience in database administration or IT infrastructure management
• ITILv4 qualification or higher - Desirable
