Job summary

NHS Scotland is seeking an Education Lead - Optometry to drive national education programmes for general ophthalmic services across Scotland. The role requires flexible working, substantial travel and attendance at evening and weekend events.

You will liaise with senior healthcare professionals, develop local opportunities for inter-professional learning, and lead education initiatives across regional and national scopes.

Qualifications

• A registered healthcare practitioner with a postgraduate qualification (e.g. MSc, independent prescribing optometrist).
• Extensive experience in community or hospital settings.
• Experience planning, delivering and managing training programmes including undergraduate education.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver optometry education programmes across Scotland.
• Collaborate with NHS partners and stakeholders to align with national and local priorities.
• Provide professional leadership, advice and support to colleagues and engage in inter-professional learning.
• Travel across Scotland for events, including evenings and weekends as required.
