Job summary

ECM Selection Ltd. is seeking an Optical Engineer to design systems using lasers, lenses and cameras in a hands-on role south of Cambridge. You will work closely with electronics, software and AI teams, moving concepts through verification to production-ready solutions.

The role combines strong theoretical optics knowledge with practical engineering, with opportunities to grow as high-technology products reach the market.

Qualifications

• 1st class degree in Physics, Electronics or similar with strong optics theory.
• Hands-on optical engineering experience with lasers, lenses and beam paths.
• Self-motivated with initiative to drive work forward.
• Exposure to machine learning for machine vision is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design optical systems with lasers, lenses and cameras.
• Collaborate with electronics, software, and AI teams from concept to production.
• Bridge theory and practical engineering to production readiness.
