Job summary

Coherent is seeking a Bonding Technician on a 12 month fixed-term contract to support precision optical and mechanical component bonding and assembly. You will perform bonding and adhesive application, manage documentation, and maintain a clean, safe manufacturing environment.

Ideal candidates have hands-on assembly experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to follow written procedures while working collaboratively within a production team.

Qualifications

• Previous assembly experience with small, delicate components.
• Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
• Ability to follow written procedures and technical instructions.
• Good communication and collaborative teamwork.
• Basic IT skills including Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
• Ability to work independently once trained while maintaining high quality.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Perform bonding operations using adhesives and application techniques suited to materials and assemblies.
• Prepare, handle, and cure bonding agents following procedures and quality requirements.
• Maintain a clean, controlled working environment to ensure product quality.
• Follow safety, quality and handling guidelines when working with adhesives and chemicals.
• Assemble small optical and mechanical components using instructions and drawings.
• Handle delicate parts with care ensuring accurate alignment and assembly.
• Conduct visual inspections and basic testing to verify quality and integrity.
• Record and maintain assembly documentation as required.
• Communicate with colleagues and supervisors to ensure production objectives are met.
• Identify and report issues related to materials, equipment, processes, or product quality.
• Contribute to a positive team culture and continuous improvement.
• Assist with additional production and assembly activities as required.
• Adapt to additional tasks as needed in a busy production environment.
