Job summary

Duncan & Todd Opticians is recruiting a Customer Care Assistant for our Peebles branch. This part-time role covers three days per week (Mon–Sat) and involves front-line patient contact, diary management, and in-store support.

You will assist with frame and lens selection, demonstrate contact lens use, process stock deliveries, and maintain NHS records. Previous optical experience is preferred but full training is provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in a customer-facing role is preferred, ideally in optical environments.
• Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic working environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle all patient queries via telephone, email or in person and direct to the appropriate staff.
• Manage the practice appointment diary, considering patient requests and staff availability.
• Assist patients on the practice floor with frame and lens selection.
• Demonstrate how to insert and remove contact lenses to patients.

• Perform general housekeeping to keep the practice clean and presentable.

We are currently recruiting for a "Customer Care Assistant" to join our "Duncan & Todd Opticians & Hearing Care" branch in Peebles. This role is offered on a part time basis of 3 days per week across Monday to Saturday.

Our Customer Care Assistants are the first point of contact for the patients and customers in our busy practices and this varied role comes with a wide range of responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Handling all patient queries coming into the practice via telephone, email or in person. Assisting where able and directing inquiries to the most appropriate staff member.
• Managing the practice appointment diary giving consideration to patient appointment requests and staff availability.
• Assisting patients on the practice floor with frame and lens selection.
• Giving patients demonstrations on how to insert and remove contact lenses.
• Processing deliveries and collections of stock.
• Administration and maintenance of patient records, databases and NHS paperwork.
• General housekeeping duties to ensure the practice is clean, tidy and presentable.
• Other ad hoc duties as and when required.
