Job summary

SpaMedica is seeking an Optical Assistant to support our Coventry Hospital cluster, performing diagnostics alongside optometrists and assisting in pre- and post-operative clinics. You will help manage equipment and ensure patient confidentiality in line with GPDR.

The role is full-time (37.5 hours/week), four days out of six, 7:30 AM–5:30 PM, based at Coventry sites. SpaMedica emphasizes safety, integrity and excellent patient care across all facilities.

Qualifications

• Adhere to clinical governance and patient confidentiality.
• Carry out diagnostics examinations alongside optometrists.
• Assist in pre- and post-operative clinics for patients.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the principles of clinical governance.
• Work alongside the optometrists in the day to day running of clinics carrying out the relevant diagnostics examinations.
• Assist in the running of pre and post-operative clinics for all patients.
• Act as theatre runner, escort in busy theatre environment.
• Be proficient in company database i.e medisoft
• Follow correct procedure for reporting any accidents or incidents.
• Prepare all areas prior to any clinical activities, ensuring all equipment is checked and ready for use.
• Ensure the correct storage of all equipment.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Assist with stock control, ensuring realistic par levels are maintained and all items are readily available.
• Manages all the diagnostic and theatre equipment on a daily basis.
• To ensure patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with GPDR
