Job summary

SpaMedica Poole cluster is seeking an Optical Assistant to support our multi-site clinics and work alongside optometrists in diagnostic examinations and operative flow.

In this full-time position you will assist with pre- and post-operative care, theatre support, and equipment maintenance while upholding patient confidentiality and data protection. The role is based in Poole within a growing NHS cataract care network.

Qualifications

• Role requires working with optometrists and carrying out diagnostics examinations.
• Assist in pre- and post-operative clinics.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and data privacy.
• Stock control and equipment readiness.
• Adhere to policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the principles of clinical governance.
• Work alongside the optometrists in the day to day running of clinics carrying out the relevant diagnostics examinations.
• Assist in the running of pre and post-operative clinics for all patients.
• Act as theatre runner, escort in busy theatre environment.
• Be proficient in company database i.e medisoft
• Follow correct procedure for reporting any accidents or incidents.
• Prepare all areas prior to any clinical activities, ensuring all equipment is checked and ready for use.
• Ensure the correct storage of all equipment.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Assist with stock control, ensuring realistic par levels are maintained and all items are readily available.
• Manages all the diagnostic and theatre equipment on a daily basis.
• To ensure patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with GPDR
