Job summary

SpaMedica in Wirral is recruiting an Optical Assistant on a 12 month fixed term contract at St Catherine’s Health Centre, Birkenhead. The role is based across our Wirral Hospital cluster, with full-time hours (37.5 per week) across 4 days out of 6, from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, offering £25,000 salary.

You will support clinicians, perform diagnostics, assist in pre- and post-operative clinics, manage equipment and maintain patient confidentiality while contributing to high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the principles of clinical governance.
• Work alongside the optometrists in the day to day running of clinics carrying out the relevant diagnostics examinations.
• Assist in the running of pre and post-operative clinics for all patients.
• Act as theatre runner, escort in busy theatre environment.
• Be proficient in company database i.e medisoft
• Follow correct procedure for reporting any accidents or incidents.
• Prepare all areas prior to any clinical activities, ensuring all equipment is checked and ready for use.
• Ensure the correct storage of all equipment.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Assist with stock control, ensuring realistic par levels are maintained and all items are readily available.
• Manages all the diagnostic and theatre equipment on a daily basis.
• To ensure patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with GPDR

This role will be based within our Wirral Hospital cluster, which involves working across multiple sites.

Hours: Full-time position, 37.5 hours per week, working 4 days out of 6, from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM

This is a 12 Month contract.
