Job summary

SpaMedica in Widnes is inviting applications for an Optical Assistant on a 12-month fixed term contract. The role is based at Teal House, Tan House Lane, Widnes, with 37.5 hours per week across 4 days out of 6, 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

As a Healthcare Technician/Optical Assistant you will support clinics, perform diagnostics with optometrists, assist pre- and post-operative clinics, and help maintain stock and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the principles of clinical governance.
• Work alongside the optometrists in day-to-day clinics carrying out relevant diagnostic examinations.
• Assist in pre- and post-operative clinics for all patients.
• Act as theatre runner in busy theatre environments.
• Be proficient in the Medisoft database.
• Follow procedures for reporting accidents or incidents.
• Prepare all areas prior to clinical activities, ensuring equipment is checked and ready.
• Ensure correct storage of all equipment.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Assist with stock control and maintain par levels.
• Manage diagnostic and theatre equipment daily.
• Ensure patient confidentiality in line with GDPR.

Role: Optical Assistant - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Location: Teal House, Tan House Lane, Widnes, Cheshire WA8 0RR

This role will be based within our Widnes Hospital cluster, which involves working across multiple sites on occasion.

Hours: Full-time FTC position, 37.5 hours per week, working 4 days out of 6, from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM

Salary: £25,000

• Be proficient in company database i.e medisoft
• Follow correct procedure for reporting any accidents or incidents.
• Prepare all areas prior to any clinical activities, ensuring all equipment is checked and ready for use.
• Ensure the correct storage of all equipment.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Assist with stock control, ensuring realistic par levels are maintained and all items are readily available.
• Manages all the diagnostic and theatre equipment on a daily basis.
• To ensure patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with GPDR
