Job summary

SpaMedica in Chelmsford is seeking an Optical Assistant to support clinics and diagnostics across multiple sites. The role involves assisting optometrists, running pre- and post-operative clinics, and managing theatre logistics, with emphasis on accuracy, confidentiality, and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting optometrists with diagnostic examinations.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the principles of clinical governance.
• Work alongside the optometrists in day-to-day clinics carrying out diagnostics examinations.
• Assist in running pre and post-operative clinics for all patients.
• Act as theatre runner in a busy theatre environment.
• Be proficient in company database i.e Medisoft.
• Follow correct procedure for reporting accidents or incidents.
• Prepare all areas prior to any clinical activities, ensuring equipment is checked and ready for use.
• Ensure the correct storage of all equipment.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Assist with stock control, maintaining realistic par levels and ensuring items are available.
• Manage all diagnostic and theatre equipment daily.
• Ensure patient confidentiality at all times per GDPR.

Role: Optical Assistant

Location: Lower Ground And Ground Floor, Buckenham House, 1 Coval Wells, Chelmsford, CM1 1WZ

This role will be based within our Chelmsford cluster, which involves working across multiple sites.

Hours: Full-time position, 37.5 hours per week, working 4 days out of 6, from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM

Salary: £26,250

Responsibilities of the Optical Assistant:

• Adhere to the principles of clinical governance.

• Act as theatre runner, escort in busy theatre environment.
• Be proficient in company database i.e medisoft

• Prepare all areas prior to any clinical activities, ensuring all equipment is checked and ready for use.
• Ensure the correct storage of all equipment.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Assist with stock control, ensuring realistic par levels are maintained and all items are readily available.
• Manages all the diagnostic and theatre equipment on a daily basis.
• To ensure patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with GPDR
