Job summary

Inspired Recruitment Group near Slough is seeking an Optical Assistant or Dispensing Optician to join its small, family-run practice.

You’ll work across dispensing frames and lenses, take measurements, fit frames, and support patients throughout their journey within a predominantly private, high-quality dispensing environment.

Optical Assistant / Dispensing Optician – Near Slough

Independent Practice | Optical Assistant 26,000+ | Dispensing Optician 32,000+ DOE

At Inspired Recruitment Group, we’re working with a lovely family-run independent practice near Slough that is looking for an Optical Assistant or Dispensing Optician to join its small, close-knit team.

This is a very different environment from a large high-street multiple. Patient care is genuinely at the forefront, with a predominantly private patient base, a more personal approach to dispensing and the opportunity to build genuine relationships with patients.

The Opportunity

The practice is looking to replace an experienced team member who is relocating and would ideally like someone who can become a long-term part of the team.

You’ll be joining a small team, including an Optometrist and experienced Optical Assistants. With just one testing room, it has a personal, relaxed feel where everyone works closely together and plays an important part in the patient journey.

The patient base is predominantly private, with a smaller amount of NHS work, and tends to be an older demographic where taking the time to understand individual needs and provide the right advice is particularly important.

The Role

This is a varied, hands-on position where you’ll be involved across different areas of the practice. Depending on your experience, responsibilities will include:

The practice offers a mid-to-high-end dispensing environment, with an average dispensing value of approximately 500-600, so this could particularly suit someone who enjoys quality dispensing and a more personalised approach to patient care.

About You

We’re open to speaking with either an experienced Optical Assistant or qualified Dispensing Optician. You’ll need to be a confident dispenser with good IT skills, as the practice operates heavily through online and computer-based systems. More importantly, they’re looking for someone personable, reliable and patient-focused who will fit naturally into a small, family-run team.

Someone who enjoys getting to know their patients rather than feeling like they are simply moving from one appointment to the next would suit the environment particularly well.

Hours & Salary

The practice is ideally looking for someone full-time across 5 days, although 4 days could also be considered for the right person.

Saturday working is required, although there is some flexibility and the potential to have one Saturday off per month.

The practice is closed on Sundays, Wednesdays and Bank Holidays, with opening hours of approximately 9am-5pm.

Salary will depend on experience:

Optical Assistant – 26,000+

Dispensing Optician – 32,000+

You’ll also receive 20 days’ holiday, with Bank Holidays off.
