Optical Sales Advisor – Family-run, non-testing independent opticians in Southampton
Salary: Competitive salary, based on experience and background
Hours: Full-time (36-hours) Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:00pm / Thursday late shift optional / Saturday 8:30am-2:30pm
YOU MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF 12 MONTHS EXPERIENCE WORKING WITHIN OPTICS.

Role Overview:
This highly respected independent optical practice in Southampton, is seeking a vibrant and experienced Optical Sales Advisor to join their fun and close-knit team. With a long-standing team members moving on after 10+ years, this is a rare opportunity to step into a stable and supportive work environment where personality, team spirit, and optical expertise are truly valued.

The practice is family-run, with a strong reputation for personalised customer care and high-quality eyewear. Their on-site lab handles all glazing in-house, allowing for precision, efficiency, and a hands-on approach. The team of 8, work closely together in a fun and collaborative setting, creating a positive culture that customers feel the moment they walk in.
Key Responsibilities:
” Deliver exceptional customer service in a non-testing, sales-focused environment
” Support patients with frame and lens selection, drawing on strong product knowledge
” Work with a wide range of lens suppliers including Hoya, Zeiss, Essilor, and Jai Kudo
” Sell from an open catalogue of frames including premium and mid-range brands (e.g., Ray-Ban, Oakley, Prada, Tom Ford, Wolf, Superdry)
” Contribute to team motivation and morale with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
” Collaborate closely with colleagues to maintain a welcoming and high-performing practice
What We’re Looking For:
” A confident, people-focused professional with a great sense of humour
” Strong optical knowledge (particularly lens and frame sales)
” Motivated, reliable, and enthusiastic with a natural ability to uplift and inspire those around them
” A team player who enjoys being part of a tight-knit, friendly workplace
” Previous experience in an optical retail setting is essential
Working Hours:
” Monday to Friday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
” Thursdays: Either 8:30am – 4:00pm or 11:30am – 7:00pm
” Saturdays: 8:30am – 2:30pm
” Sundays: Closed
