Job summary

Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is seeking a Consultant Ophthalmologist with subspecialty interest in Paediatrics and Adult Motility. The role covers outpatient clinics, day surgery, and theatre work across Wakefield, Dewsbury, and Pontefract sites.

You will join a team including Optometrists, Orthoptists, Specialist Nurses and Eye Clinic Liaison Officers. The post involves routine on-call duties with 1:8.5 rota and opportunities for professional development within the Trust frameworks and SPA

Qualifications

• Full GMC Registration with licence to practise.
• Medical Degree from recognised medical school.
• FRCOphth / FRCS or equivalent.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.
• Wide experience in management of Paediatric and Adult Motility patients.
• Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving.
• Good time management.
• Computer literate.
• Ability to contribute to the development of the Trust and its services.
• Able to communicate clearly and effectively with staff and patients.

Responsibilities

• Support General Ophthalmology with subspecialty interest in Paediatrics and Adult Motility.
• Deliver outpatient clinics and day case surgery.
• Manage workloads including Face to Face and Virtual clinics; theatre cases.
• Participate in Urgent and Emergency Care duties including out-of-hours on-call.
• Share on-call duties as part of 1:8.5 rota; 0.8 PA per duty period.
• Time off in lieu or compensatory rest for out-of-hours work.
• Offer 1.5 Core SPA with objectives agreed per Trust framework.
