Job summary

Mid Yorkshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in Wakefield is seeking an Consultant Ophthalmologist with a subspecialty interest in Paediatrics and Adult Motility. The post is based primarily at the Eye Centre, with duties across Dewsbury and Pontefract sites and an on-call rota.

The role includes outpatient clinics, day case surgery, and occasional travel between sites, with SPA time allocated and 10 programmed activities. Applicants must hold GMC registration and FRCOphth/FRCS or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Support General Ophthalmology with a subspecialty interest in Paediatrics and Adult Motility.
• Deliver outpatient clinics and day case surgery.
• See about 12 patients in Face to Face clinics and 24 in Virtual clinics; perform cataract theatre cases.
• Provide Urgent and Emergency Care duties including on-call schedules.
• Share on-call rota and manage travel between sites as required.
• Note travel in the job plan; time off in lieu for out-of-hours work.
• Time and SPA allocations as per Trust/National terms.
