Newmedica is recruiting an experienced Theatre Runner for our North Derbyshire OJV. The role is 40 hours over 4 days per week, including weekends, supporting high-volume cataract surgery and ensuring smooth patient journeys.

You will assist in theatre setup, equipment handling, positioning patients, and supporting the surgical team, with a focus on accurate documentation and patient confidentiality.

Qualificações

• Previous hospital eye service or private eye clinic experience (ophthalmology).
• Knowledge of clinical practice and current developments in Optometry.
• Capable of working in a fast paced, high volume theatre setting.
• Experience supporting the surgeon during theatre problem solving and issue resolution.
• The desire for and commitment to continuous professional development.
• A competent user of computer systems and programmes.
• A good team player happy to jump in and support others when required.

Responsabilidades

• Managing the relationship with the patient and the provision of appropriate information to them, ensuring that exceptional patient care is delivered.
• To assist in the preparation of theatre equipment and instrumentation prior to a surgical list commencing
• Assist the team in positioning patient for surgery and moving equipment
• To assist the scrub nurse and surgeon in theatre
• Attend and participate in team meetings, briefing and debriefing as required
• To assist with the administrative function of the surgical team including the accurate documentation of records
• To carry out theatre preparation of patient documentation
• Assist in weekly/monthly stock checks, including checking expiry dates and restocking the clinical area
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
